Collider started out as three friends (Che, Jon and Matt) getting together in mid 2005 to play around with some material that Che had written. After the first jam it was quickly discovered that there was a certain chemistry that was not to be wasted! Over the next 12 months Che continued to come up with new material but a drummer was seriously needed to complete the sound. Enter Che's friend Shannon, although not a drummer he was willing to give it a go. Being a guitarist with obvious talent on his main instrument, enabled him to become a "guitarist's drummer" which made him very easy to work with. By listening to his instinctive drumming on Collider's first demo recordings you would never guess that he had just taken up drumming. It is rumoured now that he may make some appearances on stage with the band on guitar. Another great drummer was then found for the Collider outfit. Anthony Alexandrou had played in bands around Adelaide prior to the band and was with Collider as they started to play live shows. Anthony is now living overseas and a replacement drummer, Benjamin Gallasch, is now filling his shoes.
Collider have played numerous venues around Adelaide and have supported well known bands such as Special Patrol, Fear of Flying and 200 Motels. The journey has just begun and if you have seen Collider live you will no doubt know that they've got something going on! |

Here is what some of the band members are currently listening to:
Che: I get to listen to the radio a lot at work at the moment, so I can keep a finger on the pulse. At home and in the car I've been getting into artists such as Hilltop Hoods, Chris Cornell, Damien Rice, City and Colour, The Whitlams, Starsailor, Eskimo Joe, Powderfinger and Silverchair Jon: My iPod is on shuffle most of the time, but lately i have been listening to the new album by the Kaiser Chiefs and Damien Rice. Matt: I've been reminiscing the good ol' days recently while listening to some old AC/DC - now there's a sound that just makes you proud to be an Aussie! I've also been diving into the sounds of Elbow and really getting into it. Other current sounds blessing my eardrums are Zoot Woman and Kaiser Chiefs. Here's what's crankin' out of my iTunes when I am at home: |
